Project Location: East-South Park Entrance at Herbert Von King Park
In 1871, NYC Park Commissioner Stranahan funded and built "Tompkins Park.
In 1875, the park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Carlvert Vaux
In 1985, the park was renamed to honor a long-time resident of Bedford Stuyvesant and a community activist Herbert Von King (1915-1985).
In 2011, the park ampitheater was named in honor of community leader Almira Kennedy Coursey
In 2012, the Von King Park Conservancy was founded
